The main initiators of the event are Croatian cluster of competitiveness of cultural and creative industries, Croatian Employers' Association, Zagreb Tourist Board, Adria Media Zagreb and Creative Industries Styria, with Representation of the European Commission in Croatia and the City of Zagreb as the main partners. With reference to the importance of the sector for the Croatian economy and society, project´s program and objectives were presented at today's press conference by: • Ivana Nikolić Popović, president of the Croatian cluster of competitiveness of creative and cultural industries, • Daniela Angelina Jelinčić, Research Adviser, Department for culture and communication at the Institute for development and international relations (IRMO), • Davor Majetić, general director of the Croatian Employers´ Association, • Martin Bienenfeld, director of the Tourist Board of Zagreb, • Branko Baričević, Head of the Representation of the European Commission Cultural and creative industries are crucial to the Croatian economy because they contribute in creating new and added values and strengthening the competitiveness of Croatian society, culture and economy, but the speakers at the conference stressed that the importance of this sector is still not sufficiently recognized. Month of creative and cultural industries will therefore within 25 renowned events in 30 locations in Zagreb present 12 sectors of cultural and creative industries to the public- from architecture, visual and audio-visual arts, heritage, design, music, applied and performing arts (theater, ballet and dance), to media, advertising and marketing communications, publishing books and computer games and new media. In addition to the outdoor events, the program will include around 40 workshops and lectures to encourage creativity in entrepreneurship and innovation, education about copyright and the digital single market, understanding of culture as a tourism product and so on. Some of the projects of the event are: 2nd Croatian summit of cultural and creative industries, Communication photo points, Days of new ideas, projects linking cultural and creative industries and the economy, the annual meeting of the EEN network of sector council of the creative and cultural industries - Enterprise Europe network and many musical events on the European square. Key cultural and creative institutions such as the Croatian National Theatre, Museum of arts and Crafts, the Museum of contemporary art, the Academy of Fine arts and the Academy of Dramatic arts actively joined this event, just as did the most famous festivals and events such as Animafest, Dance Week Festival, World music Day, Zagreb book festival, Cest is'd Best and many others. The aim of the whole event is to identify, evaluate and encourage excellence in creative and cultural industries as much as in the economy and society as a whole, but also to develop Zagreb´s tourism potential based on culture. For a month, Zagreb will live in creative and cultural spirit, which can affect the long-term development of the cultural identity of the city resembling the most visited cities in the world with a strong cultural and creative identity, that are tourist attractors and interest multipliers. About the organizers: Croatian cluster of competitiveness of creative and cultural industries is the first cluster of the sector in Croatia, which for the first time joined architecture, advertising, media, all kinds of design (graphic, fashion, product design), books / publishing, music, audio-visual arts, computer games, performing arts like ballet or theater, visual arts, heritage and applied arts, all with the aim to significantly exploit the economic potential of this sector. The aim of the cluster is to raise awareness about the importance of the sector for the development of the whole economy and society in general. Croatian Employers' Association represents more than 6,000 member companies and is the most powerful organization that represents the interests of employers and entrepreneurs. Within CEA, since 2014, CEA - Coordination of creative and cultural industries is in practise, which was established with the aim of preserving, promoting and improving the status of creative and cultural industries. CEA's Coordination brings together companies, craft businesses and associations, and through actions, among other things, seeks to raise awareness about the importance of intellectual property and copyright, and related rights.
